There are fail-secure and fail-safe types of electric lock. The fail-secure electric lock remains at locking state when the power is off. The fail-safe electric lock remains at locking state when the power is off and unlock when the power is off.It is not suggested to install fail-secure electric lock in public buildings or places as the lock will lock when the power is off during fire accident which is hazardous to the public. |
